ABOUT MASK/FIGURINE

Carved to represent the dignifying shape of a woman role model & mother, this spectacular sculpture is named “Nimba” or “D’mba” in origin Guinea Bissau. The mask is sculpted from a single piece of hardwood and is one of the heaviest masks from Africa. The sculpture’s figure is a testament to her raising and nursing her infants with selfless dedication.

D’mba sculptures are traditionally a dance mask and worn over the shoulders during a ceremony. Each mask over time has been decorated differently with many being plain and a select few highly decorated with metal plates, brass tacks and jewelry. Mask featured in this listing has a highly detailed and ornate metal finish which is extremely rare and simply jaw dropping. D'mba sculptures are a perfect collector item and a corner statement piece guaranteed to demand EVERYONE'S attention. Simply look at the images.

Please note: Old figurines/mask will always have some form of wear, cracks and or chips. This is common with old African pieces and makes them even more unique.
